7 Calming Candles to Turn Your Home into a Spa

“I relaxed too much this year,” said nobody ever. That’s why one of my 2017 New Year’s resolutions is to chill out. Sure, I’ll practice my self care routine, but I want to set up my home as a sanctuary with a majorly relaxing vibe so I can keep calm during my daily routine. How am I going to do this? You guessed it, candles!

As the calendar rolls over from 2016 to 2017, I’m into soothing scents, subtle smells, and the delicate aromatics of tea and flowers. Here are seven of my favorite calming candles:

Chesapeake Bay Peace + Tranquility

After my Chesapeake Bay Green Tea + Lotus candle (pictured at top) was discontinued, I was on the hunt for something with the same calming Eastern vibes. Billed as a “floriental” candle, Peace + Tranquility will make you feel Zen for sure.

  DW Homes Calming Waves

I first discovered the joys of wood scents mixed with citrus scents while compiling my Christmas Tree candle list. Here, cedar musk and mandarin smell like a beachside forest.

La Jolie Muse Blue Lotus

This mysterious scent is named for the rarest of lotus flowers, the blue lotus. With notes of lemon and lily of the valley, this is a complex and soothing floral aroma.

Woodwick Green Tea and Lime

The calming scent of green tea paired with rejuvenating lime makes for an invigorating scent that relaxes as it refreshes. I love Woodwick candles for relaxation in particular because they crackle as they burn, and the sound is almost meditative.

Caitlins Home Eucalyptus and Spearmint

Nothing permeates my senses and clears my mind like eucalyptus. Spearmint gives it a fresh, lively edge. Plus, just looking at this candle’s simple, elegant packaging is calming in itself.

Minx White Tea

The subtle aromatics of white tea make for a sumptuous, pampering scent. This is my go-to candle for a fresh and light spa vibe.

Bath & Body Works Lavender Vanilla

I always go back to lavender candles, don’t I! This one is special not just for its clean burn and powerful, room-enveloping scent, but for the warm, creamy vanilla notes that temper lavender’s herbal calm.
